The YWCA works with the NM Department of Health Tobacco Use Prevention and Control (TUPAC) program to educate people about the harmful effects of tobacco and secondhand smoke. Exposure to secondhand smoke can cause heart disease, lung cancer, diabetes, asthma, and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and is particularly harmful to children and the elderly. The YWCA also offers smoking cessation classes throughout the year. Please check our website calendar for information about our next class series or call us at 505-254-9922.
