Our after school program is getting going for the 2012 - 2013 school year! Girls who participate in our after school program will not only get to do hands-on projects like building and programming a Lego Mindstorm NXT 2.0 robot but will also go on a field trip to a local corporation, business, college, museum or exhibit and learn about the real-life applications of science and technology in our world. The girls will also get to work one-on-one with a professional mentor from our community and will be exposed to different types of science and technology related career fields including exclusive "behind-the-scenes" tours of some of the coolest places in Albuquerque.
We'll be at the following middle schools for the 2012 - 2013 school year:
Jackson Middle School -- Jimmy Carter Middle School -- Kennedy Middle School -- McKinley Middle School -- Van Buren Middle School
We'll have 15 spots available at each school and participation is on a first come, first serve basis. TechGYRLS school contact sign-up information, days & times will be announced shortly so make sure to check the website or follow us on Facebook for updates.
Persons interested in volunteering as a mentor or to help with the program should contact Denise Grey, Youth Program Director at dgrey@ywca-nm.org.
