THE NEED:

Children in home childcare settings need healthy meals and snacks. Home childcare providers need increased revenue - especially since in New Mexico, the average home childcare provider earns less than $14,000 annually. An estimated 80% of all the children in childcare in New Mexico receive care by home providers (much higher than national rates).

OUR GOAL:

The YWCA’s PAN (Providers Allied for Nutrition) program provides monetary reimbursement to home childcare providers for the nutritious meals and snacks they serve. Our program currently reaches over 2,500 children under the age of 13 in home childcare settings. We support home childcare providers by helping them to create healthy eating habits for children so that they will continue to maintain a healthy lifestyle when they are adults. Our goal is also to support the community by offering meaningful free classes on nutrition and child development, as well as to assist in improving the quality of meals served to New Mexico’s children.
